ABOUT WRITEWELL

Who owns WriteWell

WriteWell is a community based online writing and learning for wellbeing service owned, run and managed by the Professional Writing Academy.

Who can join WriteWell

You must be 18 or older to join the WriteWell Community. It is open to people anywhere in the world.

SERVICE

All service and pricing information is correct at the time of publication.

We reserve the right to make changes to the advertised service, including, but not limited to, WriteWell content, and online class timings, for any reason at any time. If we do make a change to a class you’ve enrolled in we’ll aim to provide as much notice as possible.

SUBSCRIPTION

WriteWell is run on a subscription basis. Everyone who joins is entitled to a 14-day free trial.

You can choose to subscribe on a monthly or annual basis.

We will ask you to register a payment method when you join, but will not take any payment until the 14-day trial period comes to an end.

Your subscription becomes active from the date we receive either your first month’s or first year’s payment.

Your payment will be taken on the same day each month or each year. For example,  if your free trial starts on 4 January, the first payment will be taken on 18 January - and each subsequent payment will be taken on the 18th day of the month, or 18 January for annual subscriptions.

Cancelling your subscription

You can cancel your subscription at any time via the ‘manage subscription’ settings in the WriteWell member’s area (accessed via the top right-hand menu). Alternatively, contact us at info@writewellcommunity.com

If you choose to cancel your subscription during the 14-day free trial, we will not take a first (or any) payment from you.

If you cancel your monthly subscription you’ll still have access to WriteWell for the remainder of the rolling month that you’ve paid for. For example, if you pay your subscription on the 1st of the month and you cancel on the 15th then your subscription will continue for the remainder of the month. We will not refund you for any month, or part of the month, that you don’t use.

Once your subscription ends, you'll still be able to log into the community site - but you won't be able to access the activities and courses. From within the site you'll be able to instantly reactivate your subscription.

The exception is if you cancel your subscription while enrolled on one of our 4-week writing courses. You will be able to continue to access the course materials so you can complete the course.

NEWSLETTER

When you join you’ll be automatically subscribed to the WriteWell newsletter to keep you up to date with what’s happening. We never share your details with other people and you can unsubscribe at any time.

USING THE ONLINE COMMUNITY SITE

Your online account and its security

To set up your WriteWell account we’ll need your email address and you’ll then be invited to set a password. For security, you must keep your login details confidential and not share them with anyone.

You’re responsible for any and all use of your account. You must tell us immediately if your account is used without your permission or if you become aware of any breach of security.

Availability of the online community site

We aim to keep the site open 24 hours except for routine updates or maintenance. If this happens, we’ll post a notice on the dashboard and inform you by email in advance.

The community site, and everything in it, including content, learning materials, forums and chatrooms are provided ‘as is’ without warranty of any kind.

While we aim to make the site available, accurate and secure, we cannot guarantee that it will be error-free, run uninterrupted, that defects will be corrected, or that the site or its server will be free of viruses or other harmful components. You use the site solely at your own risk.

Using the online community site

You must not use any robot, spider, crawling, scraping, or other automated device, process or means to access the site. You must not use any device, software, routine, or take any action that interferes with the proper working of the site.

Our copyright and intellectual property

All content, classes and service materials, whether provided via the online site, by email, phone or post, are owned by or licensed to Professional Writing Academy, or used with permission, and are protected by UK and international copyright, trademarks, database rights and/or other intellectual property rights.

This includes, but is not limited to, podcasts, videos, written content, notes and transcripts, quizzes, images, graphics and photographs, as well as the design, logos, layout and appearance of the site.

You may use all provided materials during your subscription, but you are not permitted to reproduce, record, copy, distribute or share them in any format at any time during or after your subscription ends.

Copyright of work produced by third parties

We have a Further Education Licence from The Copyright Licensing Agency. This licence allows us to photocopy, scan or make digital copies of extracts from books, journals and periodicals, magazines, law reports, ebooks, e-journals and some websites, for the benefit of our subscribers and staff in connection with the learning materials we provide as part of WriteWell. The copyright of these materials belongs to their original author(s). As such, you may use the copied materials we provide during your subscription, but you are not permitted to reproduce, record, copy, distribute or share them in any format at any time during or after your subscription ends.

Your copyright

You retain copyright of any work you write while using WriteWell learning materials or taking a WriteWell course or class. You warrant and indemnify to Professional Writing Academy that any such work shall be your own and shall not infringe the copyright of any third party. This warranty shall survive any cancellation or termination of your subscription.

Professional Writing Academy does not assert ownership rights over the content you post, transmit, or otherwise make available for inclusion on the forums, chatrooms, messaging or anywhere within the classroom. We may want to use comments you’ve made in discussions to help provide, promote or advertise our courses and services. However, we will always check with you before doing so.

Partner and third-party sites

Professional Writing Academy partners with a range of other websites by sharing some site content. All partner websites are covered by these terms and conditions.

We may include references or links to third-party sites. Professional Writing Academy has no control over third-party sites or the content within them. This means that we cannot guarantee that those sites, or their content, are secure, accurate, legal or inoffensive, and we take no responsibility for any damages or losses whatsoever resulting from your use of the online classroom or partner sites to obtain search results or to link to third-party sites. Your use of third-party sites is solely at your own risk.

Group courses, workshops live events and other activities within WriteWell

These terms apply to the online events, group classes and workshops which are included within your subscription and which we run at different times throughout the year.

What happens if we postpone or cancel the class, workshop or event?

We rarely need to postpone or cancel, but if we do we’ll give you as much notice as possible.

Booking group classes, workshops and live events

Our group glasses, workshops and live events are designed to introduce you to writing by working together in a small, supportive group. If you join a group class, workshop or live event we ask you commit to attending all the sessions to the best of your ability because:

  • It’s not practical for someone else to take your place if you cancel after the class, workshop or event has started.
  • Attending all sessions means you’ll get the most benefit from your learning.

Using WriteWell’s forums, chatrooms and video conferencing

We provide forums, chatrooms and video conferencing to help support your writing, learning, networking and socialising with other people in the WriteWell community.

You are responsible for any and all content that you share on your personal profile and on the forums, chatrooms, video conferencing chatboxes and anywhere else in the online community. We have a code of conduct to help you, which you must follow at all times (see code of conduct).

Because the online community is a place to experiment with and explore writing for both creativity and wellbeing, we do not want to censor anyone’s work. So by using the community site you understand and agree that despite our guidance on conduct you may be exposed to content that you may consider offensive, indecent or objectionable.

We may monitor and review any content shared within the community site and have the right to pre-screen, refuse, move or remove any content at any time, at our sole discretion. This includes, but is not limited to, any content that violates these terms and conditions. If you have any questions or concerns about any content shared in the community, please tell us. (see Questions, concerns and complaints section).

The Professional Writing Academy cannot control or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, usefulness, integrity or quality of any content shared by other people in the community. This means that we are not liable in any way for any such content, including any errors or omissions, or any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any content shared in the community.

Emails sent from the community forums

Whenever you post to one of the online forums a copy of your post is emailed to everyone who has subscribed to that forum, including other community members, the WriteWell Community Manager and Guides, and our site administrators. These posts will often contain someone’s written work and, as such, the copyright of individual forum posts belongs to the person who wrote them (see Your copyright section). You are not permitted to reproduce, record, copy, distribute or share those emails in any format at any time during or after your course or service.

By posting to the forums, you agree and accept that your posts will be emailed to the other people who have subscribed. Professional Writing Academy has no control over what happens to such posts after they have left the online site and we cannot control or guarantee that they will not be copied, shared or distributed by the recipient(s). We therefore ask everyone who uses the online classroom to respect the work of others and not share it in any way.

If you wish to stop receiving forum emails you can update your notification settings in your profile. However, your posts will continue to be emailed to other subscribers, even if you opt out of receiving emails yourself.

Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold Professional Writing Academy, our affiliates and agents harmless from:

  • Your access to and use of the online community site.
  • Your violation of any of these terms and conditions.
  • Your violation of any third-party right, including any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or privacy right of any content in the online community site.

This indemnification will continue after your subscription, and your use of the online community site, has ended.

Limitation of liability

In no event will Professional Writing Academy, our affiliates or agents be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, incidental or punitive damages arising out of your access to, or use of, the online community site or its contents, including any co-branded site, whether in a contract action or based on negligence, or other tort action, or any other claim whatsoever, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damage.

Violating these terms and conditions

If you violate any of these terms and conditions we may suspend your access to the WriteWell online community. If this happens, you will not be entitled to a refund. Depending on the violation, you may be investigated and appropriate legal action may be taken, including civil, criminal and injunctive redress.
